Established in 1927 by Syed Abdul Rahman Aljunied, Madrasah Aljunied began as an all-boys religious school. Over the decades, it evolved into a leading institution blending Islamic and secular education. Key milestones include the introduction of specialised religious studies in 1936, curriculum expansion in the 1960s, and accreditation by Al-Azhar University in 1969.
The Madrasah became co-educational in 1974, moved into its current campus in 1998, and joined the Joint Madrasah System in 2015. In 2020, it proudly celebrated the graduation of its first IB cohort—marking a new chapter in producing future-ready global Islamic leaders.
